Welcome to the home of The Royal Blue – KTH’s own ice hockey team!
We are a team of driven students from the Royal Institute of Technology that want to keep doing what we love most – play ice hockey! We are an official organisation (org. no. 802461-1751) and part of the Swedish Sports Confederation and the Swedish Ice Hockey Association.
The team was started in 2011 by initiative taker and founder Joachim Rönnebäck Thomson with co-founder Pontus Håstlund. The team has since then advanced from division 4 to division 3. We have managed to get ourselves to the play off for division 2, but unfortunately got knocked out. We hope to come back even stronger in the future and seriously challenge for a division 2 spot!
The team does also compete in the University Hockey League in which we have bagged a majority of the UHL championships, and we are very keen to continue that trend!
On top of this, every second year the Universiade (also known as the Student Olympics) is held and KTH has been given the privilege to be represented by multiple players in Swedens national team. In February 2017 the games were held in Almaty, Kazakhstan inside two new ice arenas with a capacity of 3 000 respectively 12 000 viewers. The 2019 games took place i Krasnoyarsk, Russia in 2019. The 2023 games will be held in Lake Placid, USA.
